The Opportunity

Save the Children International is inviting applications from suitably qualified personnel to fill the position of Project coordinator. Reporting to the Project Manager for Green Jobs 4 Youths & Adolescents (GJ4Y&A). The position holder is responsible for district level implementation of Green Jobs for Youths & Adolescents (GJ4Y&A) in coordination with TEVETA and Mzuzu E-Hub. The Green Jobs for Youths & Adolescents interventions will be delivered to improve decent jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities for the youths, promotion of green skills that contribute to positive social and environmental outcomes (including technical, vocational, financial) and addressing the intersecting challenges that youths face i.e. gender inequality, limited opportunities, ableism and gender based violence. The Project Coordinator will work with stakeholders based at the district to achieve the project’s goals and objectives. He/she is responsible for the development of a shared analysis of local issues, joint problem solving and program development with key contacts and key players. At the district implementation level he/she will be responsible for ensuring technical management of the project including in planning, budgeting, resource management, monitoring and reporting.   S/he will travel extensively to project implementation areas.

In case of emergencies or humanitarian situation, the position holder will be required to support in response as assigned by the Country Office and will be required to work outside the normal profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project Management:

• Responsible for ensuring quality and the timely implementation of the GJ4Y&A project and day to day management of the project at the district.
• Monitor and promote integrated programming in order to increase overall project impact.
• Oversees the development and implementation of annual district implementation plans for the Project.
• Is responsible for the delivery of the project’s goals and objectives at the district level.
• Support regular monitoring and monthly reporting on all grants’ management aspects: phased budget and actual expenses analysis, work-plan progress and updating, data collection and analysis and monitoring of indicators at the district.
• Maintain effective program reporting, monitoring and evaluation systems for both internal and external use and ensure that monitoring and evaluation tools are systematically implemented and used by the team, in cooperation with MEAL staff.
• Produce high quality reports within agreed reporting schedules.
• Conduct regular field visits, including discussions with beneficiaries.
• Document programme learning, and incorporate analysis and lessons learned into new strategies/activities and advocacy work.
• Conduct supervisions in collaboration with district teams and stakeholders.
• Participate in quarterly review meetings with partners for the project
• Coordination of data collection for project related activities.
• Conduct data entry in project beneficiary database and MIS.
• Support onsite and post distribution monitoring and document findings during cash or commodity distributions.
• Document project reports, lesson learnt, best practices etc.
• Support Regional MEAL Manager to develop data collection and reporting tools to ensure standardized reporting and meeting all data requirements for donor and internal reporting.
• In collaboration with the Regional MEAL Manager, other staff and stakeholders effectively contribute to documentation and dissemination of lessons learned and best practices of the project

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

• Appropriate degree in International Development or relevant social science degree (e.g. Agriculture, Social Science, Business, health).

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

• Minimum 3 years’ experience of development and/or emergency work.
• Must have practical knowledge and understanding of
• Entrepreneurship development
• Youth livelihoods
• HIV/AIDS and SRH
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Good financial and administrative skills
• Good computer literacy especially Microsoft office
• Fluent in spoken English and Chichewa
• Experience of working in a team
• Candidates must also possess a motorcycle driver’s license or be willing to Learn motor cycle riding

Location: This position will be based in either Ntcheu or Mzimba.
