The National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) was created by the Malawi Government
through an Act of Parliament (Cap 53:05) of the Laws of Malawi to promote, regulate and develop the Construction Industry in Malawi.
The Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant positions in its establishment, tenable at the Head Office in Lilongwe. However, the
holders of the positions may be transferred to Regional Offices in Blantyre and Mzuzu at any time, depending on the demand and in consideration of a number of factors.
The vacant positions are as follows:
(a) Assistant Registration Officer
(b) Assistant Monitoring & Compliance Officer
Both positions are on permanent and pensionable terms.
(B) ASSISTANT MONITORING & COMPLIANCE OFFICER – (GRADE NC 6)
Under the supervision of the Monitoring & Compliance Officer (MCO), the Assistant Monitoring & Compliance Officer’s duties shall include visiting and monitoring construction projects to ensure that players in the Industry operate professionally and ethically in line with regulations, laws and codes of ethics of the Construction Industry.
Duties and responsibilities shall include the following:
o Assist in conducting compliance assurance checks on all kinds of construction sites;
o Maintain an up-to-date record of all construction sites and premises visited;
o Assist in preparation and issuance of notices for non-compliant sites;
o Assist in following up on non-compliant construction sites to ensure corrective actions
and prepare status reports;
o Maintain an up to date record of complaints, disputes and compliance cases handled by the
Council;
o Assist in collation of data captured during compliance site visits;
o Document detected non-compliance issues in construction projects;
o Continuous updating of records in the Sectional registry;
o Mark non-compliant construction projects.
o Initiate relevant reports as appropriate.
o Any other related duties as assigned from time to time.
