The National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) was created by the Malawi Government
through an Act of Parliament (Cap 53:05) of the Laws of Malawi to promote, regulate and develop the Construction Industry in Malawi.
The Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant positions in its establishment, tenable at the Head Office in Lilongwe. However, the
holders of the positions may be transferred to Regional Offices in Blantyre and Mzuzu at any time, depending on the demand and in consideration of a number of factors.
The vacant positions are as follows:
(a) Assistant Registration Officer
(b) Assistant Monitoring & Compliance Officer
Both positions are on permanent and pensionable terms.
(A) ASSISTANT REGISTRATION OFFICER – (GRADE NC 6)
Under the supervision of the Registration Officer (RO), the Assistant Registration Officer’s duties shall include managing an essential registration function; administer the creation and maintenance of permanent registration records; assure the integrity, professionalism, security, conditions and access to these documents as well as supervising the issuance
and proper filing of official documents.
The requirements for the position are as stipulated below:
o Be aged 30 years and above;
o Should have a Bachelor’s Degree in either Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Studies, Quantity Surveying, Land Surveying and Built Environment studies with three years’ experience obtained from a reputable and recognised institution.
o Should have a minimum of three years’ work experience in the Construction Industry or
related field;
o Should have self-drive, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team working spirit, supervisory and leadership skills;
o Should be a strategic thinker with excellent planning and prioritization skills;
o Should have computer literacy skills
o Registration with a Professional Board related to the construction industry will be an added
advantage; and
o Should be ready and willing to work odd hours and during weekends
Duties and responsibilities shall include the following:
o Update and maintain filing of all registration records, ensure confidentiality of information submitted
o Pre-assess registration/upgrading applications and recommend for verification and inspection visits
o Consolidate schedules of applications for recommendation for approval process
o Prepare registration certificates and be responsible for timely distribution to stakeholders
o Consolidate and manage data including accurate records and an up to date list of registered firms
o Enforce renewals on all firms in respect to relevant regulations and consolidate list of
defaulting firms for further recommendation
o Assist in providing back-up for all registration records and services, including provision of
technical advice on registration matters
o Manage daily office mail traffic including accurate tracking system of the mails
o Respond to stakeholders’ queries and or requests for guidance, including making necessary
recommendations for further assistance to relevant authorities
o Perform related duties as required from time to time
