Airport Developments Limited (ADL) is a Company fully owned by Malawi Government and was incorporated under the English Companies Statutes of 1908 and 1913 which regulated Companies in Malawi before 1986.

ADL is responsible for the management of Kamuzu International Airport and facilitation of smooth, safe and secure movement of air travelers and cargo through provision of world class infrastructure, services and effective management of airports in an environmentally sustainable manner for socio-economic development.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position tenable at ADL Head office in Lilongwe.

FIRE ENGINE OPERATOR (Two Positions)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • To operate fire Engine

Qualifications and Experience

  • Malawi Schools Certificate of Education (MSCE).
  • Class C1 driving licence.
  • Aerodrome firefighter certificate.
  • Driver/pump operator certificate.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to cope with pressure of work
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills both written and oral
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate fire pumping equipment
  • Perform pump tests on fire engines.
  • Perform firefighting and rescue duties.
  • Responding to aircraft emergencies.
  • Making sure firefighting equipment’s are available.
  • Maintaining the serviceability of operational readiness of all firefighting and rescue equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports relevant to pump operation.
  • Direct responsible for the maintenance and operation of assigned fire engine and its equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Provision of first aid to casualties.
  • Conducting runway inspection according to planned times in coordination with air traffic controller.
  • Daily fire vehicle and equipment inspection and reporting all faults.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration package payable for the above positions is in accordance with our Conditions of Service and will be awarded to the successful applicant accordingly.
