An opportunity for career development has arisen for suitably qualified and experienced professionals who would like to pursue a career at First Capital Bank Plc. The position is tenable at the Bank’s Head Office in Blantyre.

The position reports to the Head of Internal Audit and the successful candidate will Perform risk and control assessments in respect of various key business processes being audited and documenting the results and conclusions accordingly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out of audit work and ensuring that completion of audits are within the planned timelines.
  • Exercising high levels of business acumen (general understanding of the business)
  • Ensuring that audit observations and reports are factually correct.
  • Ensuring compliance with First Capital Bank Plc audit methodology standards and procedures.
  • Ensuring clear Root Cause Analysis is incorporated in all audit observations.
  • Ensuring increased usage of data analytics in all aspects of our work.
  • Attaining effective and comprehensive usage of the audit tool -TeamMate
  • Managing detailed monthly tracking of outstanding audit issues.
  • Collaboration with other internal audit members within the FMB Capital Plc group
  • Assisting in drafting of Board Audit Committee meeting reports.

Personal competencies

  • Business Acumen
  • Knowledge of Internal Auditing Standards.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Knowledge of local banking laws and regulations; and
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and IT proficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Internal Audit, Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or other related disciplines plus a professional qualification (ACCA or CIA).
  • At least four (4) years’ experience working in a reputable public accounting firm or financial institution.
