Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) is seeking applications for the post of:

CORPORATE AFFAIRS EXECUTIVE

Key responsibilities for the successful candidate include the following:

• Provide Corporate support and stakeholder engagement services to AOTM and Pyxus Agriculture (PAM) in the development and maintenance of Government and affiliated relationships to strengthen the business operating environment,
• Management of regulatory matters and liaison with regulatory authorities through various channels including attendance of plenary sessions,
• Coordinates and enhances the linkage between the Tobacco Industry, PAM and AOTM through building and maintaining Corporate, Public and Community relationships, and coordinating company participation in Tobacco Processors Association (TPA) on matters of mutual benefit that are non-competitive in nature,
• Representation of the company on matters that include Agricultural Labour Practices (ALP), besides interaction with various Government Ministries – including Agriculture, Trade & Industry and other statutory authorities of relevance to the business,
• Builds public relations strategies and manages company communications programmes by working closely with the internal communication teams
• Builds working relationships with global functions other than internal communications (external comms, corporate affairs, sustainability)
• Periodic engagement with customers and the media to build and drive brand awareness,
• Liaison with local authority structures and relevant Government and Non-Governmental authorities for purposes of stakeholder engagement and/or to resolve issues and mitigate associated risks,
• Provides support across Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications in the management of various issues with a view to strengthen the business operating environment and mitigate risks
• Prepares and submits relevant reports on all aspects of Corporate Affairs to the AOTM and PAM Managing Directors and relevant Line Management in line with AOTM and PAM requirements.
• Supports Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in AOTM and PAM.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors or Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines; Law, Social Science, Public Relations, Public Administration, Communications, Business , Marketing
• 5-10 years’ experience in regulatory affairs, licensing, advocacy and policy development
• Excellent computer skills
• Good analytical and reporting skills
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with fluency in English and Chichewa at the minimum.
