Business Development Officer, Food And Agribusiness Full Time

NBS Bank Plc is a fully- fledged commercial bank providing a wide range of financial services to individuals, small and medium businesses, large corporations and public institutions with 26 service centres across Malawi.

The Bank in collaboration with FARMSE (a government of Malawi programme supported by IFAD) has a two-year project with aim to increase access to and utilization of formal financial services in rural areas. In line with this objective, the bank intends to create a data base and a credit scoring model for agriculture value chain financing. NBS Bank will be lending out to smallholder farmers in rural areas under associations and cooperatives with offtake arrangements with reliable buyers of their agricultural produce.

Subsequent to the above, NBS Bank Plc invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill two-year temporary vacant positions tenable at our project centres in Lilongwe, Mchinji, Kasungu and Karonga as below.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, FOOD AND AGRIBUSINESS (C4)

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the SME Team Lead – Food & Agribusiness, the successful candidate’s overall responsibility will be to implement business development activities in line with Food and Agribusiness strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, among other responsibilities:

• Implement annual Portfolio Business Plan in order to grow and retain business
• Analyse the business growth, development, and performance of respective portfolio.
• Provide input in the development of the budget and submit to Team Lead- Food & agribusiness for inclusion into the overall cluster budget.
• Engage with customers and manage service, ensuring all queries are resolved in line with service level agreement and best practices.
• Promote growth of assets and liabilities with the view to grow revenue in respective portfolio.
• Promote cross-selling of the Bank’s products and services through Client Service Team (e.g. Digital Banking, Private Banking, SME Banking, Treasury and Service Centres).
• Monitor account performance, facility utilization, credit facility performance, and produce routine reports and submit to the Food & Agribusiness SME Team Lead.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Agribusiness, Banking Finance, Economics or equivalent
• Banking Qualification and experience are desirable.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Good planning skills.
• Problem solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent motorcycle riding skills.
• Excellent reporting both written and oral.
