The Anti-Corruption Bureau was established by an Act of Parliament to receive and investigate complaints of alleged or suspected corrupt practices; to prosecute offences under the Corrupt Practices Act; to investigate and report on the conduct of any public officer which is connected or conducive to corrupt practices; to take necessary measures for the prevention of corruption in public and private bodies and to solicit public support in the fight against corruption. ACB is in the process of recruiting suitable persons to fill vacant posts as follows:
Job Title: Corruption Prevention Officer (1 Position)
Grade: 7/I
Division: Corruption Prevention
Location: Zomba
a) Examine systems and procedures.
b) Conduct institutional audits/enquiries.
c) Facilitate establishment of coalitions with stakeholders.
d) Initiate review and formulation of strategies for the prevention of corruption.
e) Undertake intelligence gathering on corruption and fraud.
f) Review draft legislation or proposal for new legislation that might have areas of concern regarding fraudulent and corrupt practices.
g) Facilitate fraud and corruption workshops and trainings in client’s institutions.
h) Conduct follow up exercises in order to secure and monitor implementation of recommendations made to client institutions.
i) Facilitate the framing and implementation of fraud and corruption instruments e.g. Code of Ethics, fraud and corruption prevention policies, guidelines (gift, whistleblower, hospitality, entertainment, conflict of interests etc)
j) Conduct spot checks during examination, airports and boarder to check compliance with laid down procedures, systems and policies.
k) Initiate and conduct research on corruption related issues.
l) Assess capacity of institutions to effectively implement fraud and corruption programmes within their institutions.
