PMTCT Coordinator (Several Positions) Full Time

Job Description

Overall responsibilities:

Reporting to the District Team Lead, the PMTCT Coordinator is a key member of the District HIV, STI, Hepatitis prevention team who is involved in the planning and implementation of HIV prevention and treatment services in the district. The coordinator will work closely with the Ministry of Health to coordinate the implementation of interventions aimed at achieving elimination of vertical transmission of HIV, Syphilis and Viral Hepatitis in the district she/he is based.

Other Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

• Provide leadership in designing, and implementation of triple elimination district work plans.
• Oversee the capacity building of triple elimination service providers at the facilities on national guidelines and protocols.
• Participate in district supervision and mentorship review meetings in addition to QI collaborative learning sessions.
• Work with M&E/QI team and facility staff to help track progress, identify course correction needs and implement interventions in a timely manner.
• Oversee follow-up of HIV infected pregnant and breastfeeding women and HIV exposed infants in facilities and ensure optimal outcomes for the mother and infants.
• The triple elimination coordinator will be responsible for elimination target achievement.
• Liaise with Department of HIV Syphilis and Viral Hepatitis and other stakeholders in the implementation of the program in line with guidelines and priorities.
• Take part in the drafting of monthly, quarterly and annual reports and other written materials such as lessons learned, case studies and other materials as required.
• Assist in program monitoring and evaluation and use of data to inform program planning and continuous improvement.
• Organizes regular facility level technical updates/review meetings for eMTCT to discuss performance.
• Participate in the district, zonal and national triple elimination review meetings.
• Participate in triple HIV, Syphilis, and Viral Hepatitis research activities.

Qualifications & experience required:

• Diploma in Nursing/Midwifery or Clinical Medicine or Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery or Medicine.
• Training in general HIV care and treatment with at least 3 years’ experience in the field of HIV/ AIDS specifically, direct HIV Treatment and Care.
• Trained in HIV/AIDS, vertical transmission & TB comprehensive care and support.

Required skills:

• Demonstrated clinic competence and experience in HIV treatment programs, preferably prevention of vertical transmission.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a multi-cultural team environment.
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, but also coordinate with MOH and RTCM colleagues, assess priorities, and manage a variety of activities with attention to detail.
• Ability to travel domestically mainly within the district for service delivery and mentoring up to 50% of the time.
