CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISORS (2).
The successful candidate will be a part of the NCA/DCA Team at the NCA Malawi Representation and will be based in Mchinji (1) and Rumphi (1) and will report to the Programme Coordinator- Climate
Smart Economic Empowerment (CSEE).
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Sustainable Food Systems for Rural Agriculture Transformation and Resilience (TRANSFORM) program will during its implementation period of 3 years and 6 months (2021-2025) “strengthen local food systems and demonstrate a sustainable improvement of food and nutrition security, income, and resilience to climate change among 150,000 agriculture-dependent rural households within 22 EPAs of Dowa, Mchinji, Kasungu, Mzimba, and Rumphi districts.
Transform Program is being coordinated by organizations namely the Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU).
The project seeks to recruit two Construction Supervisors who will be based in Mchinji and Rumphi Districts. These will be responsible for overseeing construction projects in the two districts.
JOB PURPOSE:
Construction supervisors oversee the construction of projects and monitor activities at worksites, manage crews, ensure health and safety codes are observed, and that work is completed to schedule,
quality and cost.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
He/she shall be responsible for all building construction process management and supervision, in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and standards.
He/She shall be responsible for maintenance, compliance and observance of strict Occupational Health, Safety and Hygiene code of practice prevailing and in accordance with applicable
laws and regulations.
He/She shall be responsible for construction structures, mechanical, equipment, electrical and hydraulic systems assessment, and repair needs.
He/She shall be responsible for monitoring contractor productivity, supervise works, Contracts, Contractors.
He/She shall be responsible for maintaining good and productive relationships with stakeholders and regulators.
Lead in complaints handling mechanisms, resolve site disputes and mobilize communities around construction project sites.
He/She shall be responsible for capacity-building interventions in his/her area of expertise.
He/She shall be responsible for providing clear and complete documentation and directives of all activities within the area of expertise.
He/She shall be responsible for producing timely and concise reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in construction management or Structural Engineering or its equivalent from a reputable institution with 4 years proven experience as a Sight Engineer or Building Supervisor. Those with a Diploma or Building Foreman certificate are also encouraged to apply and must have over 8 years proven experience.
In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, materials testing and Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA).
Strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems.
Be a registered member of the appropriate regulatory bodies.
Must have a valid motorcycle license.
