St John of God College of Health Sciences is an integral part of Saint John of God Hospitaller Services Malawi. The College provides university-level training in Bachelor of Science in Mental Health-Psychiatric Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine (Mental Health), Bachelor of Science in Nursing & Midwifery, Bachelor of Science in Psychotherapy, and Diploma in Clinical Medicine. The institution is looking for suitable candidates to fill the following posts:

LECTURER IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY

The position

Reporting to the Head of the Clinical Medicine Department, the Lecturer in Obstetrics And Gynaecology will be expected to teach students at the undergraduate level: planning, managing, and leading lectures, tutorials, and seminars, and facilitating student-led groups such as involvement in the assessment of students, as well as in the development and evaluation of teaching and assessment strategies

Responsibilities (which include, but are not limited to);

  • Preparing lectures and delivering course content in a professional and timely manner
  • Preparing and administering formative and summative assessments
  • Preparing and conducting clinical teaching and assessments
  • Assist in supervising research students in writing their dissertations
  • Critically analysing students’ performance in the subjects, he/she is responsible for according to set standards and making adjustments accordingly
  • Initiating and conducting health-related research.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Obstetrics & Gynaecology obtained from a recognized, accredited, and reputable University or MBBS. Those with a Master’s degree will have an added advantage.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical and teaching experience in a recognized tertiary institution.
  • A mature and committed Personality
  • Good communication skills
  • Duly registered with the Medical Council of Malawi
  • Strict adherence to the organization’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy.
